Breastfeeding has a profound impact on population health outcomes. The evidence for the value of human milk to the overall health of infants, children, and mothers is scientific, robust, and continually reaffirmed by new research.
*A new iteration of the California, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Ohio reports was released in August of 2023 featuring an updated list of coalitions. If you would like your breastfeeding coalition to be featured in your state or territory's 2024 breastfeeding report, join the USBC Coalitions Directory by completing the USBC Member Interest Form. |
To help organizations better understand how federal funding for breastfeeding has been distributed in each state and territory in recent years, the USBC developed The Distribution of Federal Funding for Breastfeeding 2023 Report as a supplement to the 2023 State & Territory Breastfeeding Reports.
Please note: The funding years selected in this report align with the data reported in the 2023 State & Breastfeeding Territory Reports. This resource visually demonstrates where federal funding has been directed and, wherever possible, which programs include a lactation component. Organizations are encouraged to use the table in this report to identify where there are opportunities to expand breastfeeding programming in each state or territory.
