Camille Abbe (she/her) serves as Director of Strategic Partnerships at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee, supporting the USBC mission by bringing stakeholders together for collaborative efforts that address the barriers to breastfeeding success. With a background in public relations, event planning, advocacy, and as a birth doula, Camille leads the collective impact and membership teams and is responsible for overseeing and leading efforts for continuous communication and collaboration with partners across the First Food field and beyond, as well as identifying and developing opportunities to increase the capacity and impact of the lactation field. She lives in Massachusetts, is an enthusiastic ceramics hobbyist, and is also a 500-hour certified yoga instructor.

Suzan AjlouniPublic Health Writing Specialist

Suzan Ajlouni (she/her) serves as the Public Health Writing Specialist at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. In her role, Suzan develops strategic communication and promotion materials for stakeholders, including member organizations and policymakers, and supports the communication of academic and research findings to the public. She also works with constellation work groups to support the communication and dissemination of expert opinion and recommendations for the field. Suzan received a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from Boston University School of Public Health.

Kristen ClarkSenior Development Coordinator

Kristen Clark (she/her) serves as the Senior Development Coordinator at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. In her role, Kristen supports organizational impact and sustainability by building and cultivating relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including individuals, organizations, and businesses that aim to support the USBC mission and vision. She also enjoys planning events that foster participant engagement. In previous roles, Kristen served in communications and development positions for nonprofits focused on access to adult education, human rights, and child welfare. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Science from Syracuse University and a master’s in Forensic Psychology from The George Washington University. Kristen lives near Cleveland, Ohio with her husband, son, and two cats. She enjoys baking, gardening, and reading thriller novels.

Lydia ColeCommunications Manager

Lydia Cole (she/her) serves as Communications Manager at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. In her role as CM, Lydia supports the USBC mission and teams by shaping external communications strategy and communicating with USBC organizational stakeholders, donors, and supporters. A licensed social worker, Lydia comes to USBC after working as a Clinical Therapist at a Child Advocacy Center, and in the Development Department at Ennis Center for Children, a nonprofit foster care and adoption agency. She is a clinical therapist who specializes in trauma and maternal mental health, a birth doula, and a Community Breastfeeding Specialist. Lydia lives in Mid-Michigan and enjoys spending time with her husband and son, singing and writing music, running her online jewelry business, and cooking.

Jennifer DayExecutive Director

Jennifer Day (she/her) serves as the Executive Director at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. In her role as ED, Jennifer supports the USBC mission by focusing on financial sustainability and organizational vitality, while also supporting the Board of Directors and the programmatic and operational efforts of the staff team. Jennifer previously served on the Board of Directors and as a Community Building Manager with the Michigan Breastfeeding Network (MIBFN) and on the Board of Directors of the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLE). She is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Doula, Childbirth Educator, and a Co-Founding member of the Southeast Michigan IBCLC's of Color (SEMI). Jennifer lives in the Detroit area with her husband and two teenage children where they love to travel, garden and spend time near the water.

Alina EversonData Management Specialist

Alina Everson (she/her) serves as the Data Management Specialist at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee, and joined the team in June 2023. In this role, Alina will be pivotal in supporting the USBC's mission and impact by harnessing the power of data to enable us to make informed decisions, tell compelling stories that drive positive change, and achieve our goals effectively. Alina has a background in supporting data and reporting needs for various community service programs like homelessness prevention, family stability, and prenatal and early childhood development. Alina has followed her passion for turning data into meaningful insights. She enjoys working with her kitty Jack curled up on her lap. Alina lives in Oregon and is a movie and TV enthusiast who can always recommend something to watch.

Erin FortunaExecutive Assistant

Erin Fortuna (she/they) serves as Executive Assistant at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee, working closely with the Executive Director to provide administrative support across executive functions, operations and programmatic activities. In this role, Erin supports organizational workflows, project management, and provides technical assistance support. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC®), Erin brings a unique perspective and expertise to the USBC from the lactation support provider community and the families they serve. They have a deep-rooted commitment to the equity and inclusion of all families and individuals who exist everywhere across the spectrum of 2SLGBTQIA+ identities. Outside of USBC, you will usually find Erin reading through their ever-growing pile of books, baking challah on Fridays, and embracing the sweet and tender parenting moments with their two children.

Jacqueline HammackNational Policy Director
|
Jacqueline Hammack (she/her) serves as the National Policy Director at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. In her role, Jacqueline provides leadership and oversight to the policy work of the USBC, including legislative and regulatory tracking, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement. As a lawyer who has worked at the intersection of perinatal health and the law for nearly a decade and a former fellow with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Leadership Network, Jacqueline brings a strong commitment to the removal of policy, system, and environmental barriers that prevent families from meeting their human milk feeding goals. Having navigated these barriers in her own breastfeeding journey, Jacqueline is especially passionate about advancing the important work of the USBC. Born and raised in the Deep South, Jacqueline now lives in the Finger Lakes region of New York where she enjoys spending time in nature.

Michelle HilliardDirector of Operations

Michelle Hilliard (she/her) serves as the Director of Operations for the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. Michelle oversees organizational operations and leads initiatives across workflow optimization, project management, budget oversight, and compliance. She serves as a liaison for the Board of Directors, the Finance and Audit Committee, and USBC contractors. Michelle earned a Master of Public Health and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Purdue University and has a strong foundation in nonprofit management and population health. She lives in Illinois and is the proud owner of a certified therapy dog.

Cheryl LebedevitchPolicy Specialist
|
Cheryl Lebedevitch (she/her) serves as Policy Specialist at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. After many years leading the USBC policy and communications teams and serving as co-steward of the Workplace Support Constellation, Cheryl has transitioned to a part-time role with USBC, continuing to support the organization’s Collective Impact work. She serves as Editor-In-Chief of the weekly e-Newsletter, Staying Abreast: Weekly Wire, and is a contributing author to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion report, "The Role of Law and Policy in Assisting Families to Reach Healthy People's Maternal, Infant, and Child Health Breastfeeding Goals in the United States." Cheryl joined the USBC in 2009 and has held many titles and responsibilities during her time with the organization. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is currently working toward a Master of Public Policy degree at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Cheryl lives on Cape Cod with her husband and children where she works to support wildlife conservation through her service with the Massachusetts Audubon

Stephanie SieswerdaMembership Engagement Manager

Stephanie Sieswerda (she/her) serves as the Membership Engagement Manager at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. In this role, Stephanie builds and maintains connections with USBC member organizations and their representatives. She supports member organizations with getting plugged in to USBC constellations, committees, and capacity-building efforts. Stephanie holds a master’s in social science from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Notre Dame. She has a passion for the policy, systems, and environmental changes that contribute to creating a landscape of breastfeeding support. Stephanie previously worked for the DC Breastfeeding Coalition and served as Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite Program Coordinator for the state of Texas. She resides in Austin, TX with her fiancé and two cats, Pepper and Clovis.
