The Creating Space Scholarship is an invitation to organizations that are BIPOC-led and serving, or an organization led by and serving a priority population as defined by the USBC CRASH Committee, that have a strong interest in supporting the mission of the USBC but have difficulty affording the full cost of membership.

Membership scholarships are available to new member applicants on a case-by-case basis. Scholarship recipients receive complimentary organizational membership to the USBC for one full calendar year and the scholarship is renewable for up to five years, permitting funding. How to Apply

All applicants must first complete a Membership Application online. Complete the Membership Interest form to receive the link to the Membership Application during the membership open enrollment period (August-October annually). Once approved for membership, scholarship recipients submit a signed Scholarship Declaration.

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a new USBC Member applicant
• The applicant is an organization that is BIPOC-led and BIPOC-serving, or an organization led by and serving a priority population as defined by the USBC CRASH Committee.
  • The USBC CRASH Committee defines priority populations as historically or currently oppressed groups who may experience systemic inequities related to breastfeeding/lactation support and services. Breastfeeding outcome data, rates are likely disproportionately low, misconstrued, or undocumented.
• The applicant is an organization or coalition with an operational budget <$250,000
• The applicant declares an inability to pay USBC membership dues

Organizations that are awarded membership scholarships are expected to actively contribute to the USBC and its endeavors by sending a member representative to each Membership Meeting and engaging in two or more of the activities outlined in the USBC Membership Scholarship Guidelines.

Membership scholarships can be extended, but organizations must re-apply annually, and organizations must provide evidence of their contribution, advancement, and/or work within the USBC. With support from our funder, this scholarship will be awarded to up to 100 organizations. Complete the Membership Interest form today!
