Elizabeth Gedmark is the Vice President of A Better Balance, a national nonprofit legal advocacy organization dedicated to work-family justice. Elizabeth has worked for years to advocate for the passage and strong implementation of national and state protections for pregnant and lactating employees, including the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act, as well as paid leave programs, especially in the public sector. A Better Balance hosts a free legal helpline to help individuals understand their workplace rights related to caring for themselves and their family members.

As an organizational leader, Jennifer brings a wealth of talent and demonstrated skills with organizational fundraising, a key priority for our Executive Director in order to diversify USBC funding and ensure organizational vitality and sustainability.

NBCC Pride Month Celebration

The U.S. Breastfeeding Committee hosted the 2024 National Breastfeeding Conference & Convening Monday, June 3, through Wednesday June 5. The theme, Inspiring Change, Embracing Inclusion, and Impacting Communities, guided this year's selection of learning and networking opportunities. Experts and leaders from across the First Food field came together for this singular event to catalyze policy and systems-level changes to better support breastfeeding and human milk feeding across the nation.

At the opening of the convening, USBC board member Petrichor Kneeland-Campbell delivered a moving celebration of Pride Month, connecting this important observance to the work of the lactation field and reflecting on their own lactation journey. Thank you, Petrichor, for grounding us and inspiring our collective power to keep working toward more equitable systems and policies!
