Organizational Sign-On Letter Opportunity: Welcome Congress

Organizations are invited to sign a joint letter welcoming members of Congress to the 117th congressional session and urging them to take action on five policy priorities of importance to the lactation field.

These priorities reflect the policy changes that are most urgently needed over the next two years and have been identified and selected through extensive feedback from U.S. Breastfeeding Committee stakeholders and member organizations.

At the start of each new congressional session, the USBC hosts a Welcome Congress campaign to educate policymakers on breastfeeding policy priorities for that congressional session. This year, the Welcome Congress campaign will launch on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9, with a focus on the following five breastfeeding policy priorities:

  • Federal funding for breastfeeding
  • Infant and young child feeding in emergencies
  • Access to breastfeeding support and supplies
  • Paid family and medical leave
  • Maternity care practices

USBC leadership will share this organizational letter with legislators during Congressional office visits during Welcome Congress week. The USBC will also launch a separate action tool for constituents across the country to share this letter and these priorities directly with their representatives.

The deadline to ensure that your organization is an original signatory is Sunday, May 9. Please share this opportunity with other organizations in your network.

Please contact with questions.
