Voting Members

The following organizations may apply for and maintain membership as voting members, excepting such organizations that manufacture and/or distribute infant formula and any other breast milk substitutes and any organization and/or foundation representing, established or supported by these organizations.

National Nonprofit Member

Non-governmental, not-for-profit organizations of national scope that are based in the United States and are supportive of the mission of the USBC may apply for and maintain national nonprofit membership, excepting such organizations whose primary purpose is to market or sell products or services in support of infant formula feeding. Examples of national scope include, but are not limited to, having membership in, or activities or services reaching, 4 of the 7 geographic regions of the United States. 

Associate Nonprofit Member

Any non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that is based in the United States and works on multi-organizational and/or cross-sector policy/practice change that aligns with the mission of the USBC, excepting such organizations that manufacture and/or distribute infant formula and any other breast milk substitutes and any organization and/or foundation representing, established or supported by these organizations.

**These organizations are state or locally based**

Affiliate Nonprofit Member

Not-for-profit organizations that are based in the United States and work in direct service to or support of breastfeeding families in alignment with the mission of the USBC, excepting such organizations that manufacture and/or distribute infant formula and any other breast milk substitutes and any organization and/or foundation representing, established or supported by these organizations.

**These organizations may be nationally, state, or locally based**

Breastfeeding Coalition Member

State/Territorial Coalitions - The state/territorial breastfeeding coalitions registered with the USBC. There shall be only one State/Territorial coalition member for each U.S. state and territory
Tribal Coalition/Organizations - Any Native American Indian tribe, tribal organization, or tribal community, and any breastfeeding coalition formed to serve such a tribe or tribes, that is supportive of the mission of the USBC.
Local/Community Coalitions- Any breastfeeding coalition focused on serving a city, town, county, metropolitan area, or intrastate region.
Cultural Coalitions - Any breastfeeding coalition focused on serving a specific racial/ethnic or cultural group within the United States at a sub-national level.Affiliate Nonprofit Fact Sheet

Non-Voting Members

Governmental Member

Federal government agencies that impact breastfeeding mothers and children may be invited to governmental membership in the USBC. Governmental members are non-voting members of the USBC.

There are no dues or initial/renewal application fees for governmental membership.

Affiliate For-Profit Member

For-profit organizations that are based in the United States and work in direct service to or support of breastfeeding families in alignment with the mission of USBC, excepting such organizations that manufacture and/or distribute infant formula and any other breast milk substitutes and any organization and/or foundation representing, established or supported by these organizations

Convening Topics

The USBC currently convenes active Constellations (action-focused work teams) or is incubating Constellations to form on several topic areas. Please keep your organization's Engagement Levels on these topics in mind when choosing member representatives. You may wish to ensure that you have a representative aligned to participate in each topic area identified as Core and/or Involved Engagement Level for your organization.
