Being Heard: Key Communication Strategies for Maternal and Child Health Organizations
Presented by:
Kimberly Seals Allers, Author. Strategic Communications Consultant. Social Commentator.
Director, Maternal and Child Health Communication Collective
As the Internet, social media and other sources of information proliferate, maternal and child health organizations with credible information can struggle to be heard. Ensuring scientifically credible evidence-based information is at the core of the communication and is presented in a way that is effective and digestible for lay audiences ensures these efforts are not lost.
Delivering information to communities that need it most takes targeted communication efforts. This presentation will cover key strategies for improving communication efforts and targeting messaging to affected communities. It will cover press releases, social media and community events as communication tools to promote and protect breastfeeding. It will walk through completing a basic communication plan focused on improving breastfeeding and maternal child health outcomes through organizational development.
