USBC Membership Meeting Registration
The USBC Membership Meeting will take place on Friday, August 3 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m, with various evening events to follow (see directly below for details). This year we have made a single form to register for NBCC and the Membership Meeting. If you plan to attend only the Membership Meeting and not the conference, please contact email@example.com for your Membership Meeting registration instructions.
The main conference program will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, and end at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 5. Registration for the main conference includes all plenary and breakout sessions, conference materials, entry to exhibits, breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and all refreshment breaks.
In addition, all conference registrants (and all Membership Meeting attendees) are encouraged to participate in the following activities scheduled for Friday, August 3, at the conclusion of the USBC Membership Meeting, including:
- Welcome Members Reception from 5:00 - 5:45 p.m.
- Regional Meetings from 6:15 - 7 p.m.
- Social Media Mixer Exhibits Reception from 8:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Conference Categories & Fees
There are several categories of registration, with fees as follows:
- National Nonprofit Member Organization Representative: $350
- This category is only for the four officially appointed representatives of the USBC member organizations. If your organization is a member, but you are not currently one of the listed four representatives, you may contact firstname.lastname@example.org to begin the process of switching your representatives. Anyone aside from or in addition to the four member reps is asked to register using the Open Attendee Category.
- Coalition Attendee (non-sponsored): $350
- This category is for additional representatives from the state/territorial breastfeeding coalitions (beyond the two sponsored attendees), as well as for representatives from ANY other type of breastfeeding coalition. You are attending the convening as a representative for your coalition.
- If this is not you, please review the categories for one that is a better fit. If none of the discounted categories represent you accurately, please register as an "Open Attendee," as this is the appropriate category for you. If you are uncertain, please email the planner to discuss your circumstance.
- State/Territorial Coalition Sponsored Attendee: $200- This category is now closed for registration. Coalition members may register in the "Coalition Attendee" (non-sponsored) registration category.
Each of the breastfeeding coalitions from the 50 states, DC, and U.S. territories (e.g., Puerto Rico), is asked to select two individuals who will receive travel support and a reduced registration rate as a Coalition Sponsored Attendee. Only the two individuals approved by the state/territorial breastfeeding coalitions shown in the USBC Coalitions Directory are eligible to register in this category. For details and questions about this category, please review the Guidelines for Selection of Attendees.
- Sponsored Attendees will receive this discounted registration rate as well as travel support (flight, train or mileage reimbursement). As in the past, attendees are asked to stay in the conference hotel, and pay the hotel directly for their room.
- WIC Employee: $350
- All WIC employees, including Peer Counselors, State Breastfeeding Coordinators, or other, are asked to register using this category.
- Open Attendee: $450
- Open attendee category is for anyone that does not fit in the above restricted registration categories.

The conference room rate is $129/night, single or double, plus 16.9% state and local tax, plus a "State Hotel Assessment Fee" of $5 per room/night. Complimentary wireless internet in guest sleeping rooms is included. The deadline to make reservations at the conference rate has been extended until July 25, 5:00 p.m. ET. but we recommend you reserve sooner.

Note: a deposit equal to one night’s room and tax will be charged at the time a guest makes a reservation, and upon check-in, will be applied towards the guest’s bill. Deposits paid by guests are refundable if notice is received by Hotel at least 3 days prior to arrival—please make sure you get a cancellation number!
Note: When booking a shared room, be sure to give the hotel the name of your roommate, so that they will be allowed to check in, even if you've not yet arrived! If you need to find a roommate, please post a note on the event's Facebook page.
Q: When is the Eighth National Breastfeeding Coalitions Conference?
A: The main conference program will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, and end at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 5. Q: Where will it be held?
A: At the conference hotel, in Atlanta, Georgia. Please refer to the Hotel tab for details and transportation information.
Q: Who may attend?
A: The conference is open to the public, with advance registration and payment.
Q: How do I connect with a roommate? Will one be assigned to me?
A: One will not be assigned to you. If you’d like to share your room, please post a note on the event's Facebook page specifying that you have a room and would like a roommate. We recommend that you make a hotel reservation as soon as you have decided to attend, (before the group block deadline of July 12, though rooms may sell out earlier) and THEN seek a roommate. That way you will be assured of having your own accommodations at the group rate.
Q: Which airport should I fly into?
A: Centrally situated in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Sheraton Atlanta Hotel is just 10 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Airport transfers can be made easily by taxi, rental car, or city rail (MARTA). Please note, Coalition Sponsored Attendees must have their flights booked by the USBC travel agent. See the Sponsored Attendee Policy & Procedure.
Q: Is there a free shuttle to the hotel?
A: No. The MARTA stops two blocks away, however, for a fee of $2.50. The hotel has details on their website.
Q: Are children invited?
A: Babies in arms are warmly welcomed. Please be respectful of other conference attendees' ability to hear the sessions and use your best judgment if you need to temporarily step out of the room. Please use the event's Facebook page if you’d like to connect with other parents to self-organize child care arrangements for older children. We will have a space and will be seeking volunteer childcare providers as well. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if interested in volunteering or to discuss arrangements.
Q: Is there a space for expression and storage of breast milk?
A: Yes, milk expression accommodations will be available, including refrigeration.
Q: Are meals included with my conference registration fee?
A: Yes, breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and all refreshment breaks, are included with your registration fee. Dinners are NOT included, however, many moderately priced dining options are within walking distance and the hotel has a restaurant onsite as well.
Q: If I'm registering as a Coalition Sponsored Attendee, why do I have to pay a registration fee?
A: Sponsored Attendees receive travel support to attend the conference, in addition to a reduced registration rate. Restrictions on the conference funding prohibits paying for food and beverage expenses, however, so Sponsored Attendees pay a registration fee that covers the cost of their food. Q: If I am a Coalition Sponsored Attendee, how does my travel support work? What is covered?

Q: Does the conference provide continuing education credit?
A: No, the conference does not provide CERPs or other continuing education credit. One goal of the USBC and the conference funders is to encourage diversity within breastfeeding coalition leadership and membership (see Guidelines for Selection of Attendees). Health care is just one of the sectors in which breastfeeding coalitions work, and health care professionals are just one type of attendee encouraged to attend the conference. If the conference offered continuing education credits just to health care professionals (or certain types), it could encourage unbalanced representation or give the impression that only those individuals are encouraged to participate.
Q: I am presenting a breakout panel session, breakfast table topic, and/or poster. Is my registration complimentary?
A: No. Presenters are asked to register for the conference.
Q: May I register for JUST the Advocacy Training Workshop? (or JUST the Membership Meeting)?
A: Yes. See the Additional Event Details webpage for more information on the Friday USBC Membership Meeting and Sunday afternoon's Advocacy Training Workshop 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. They are add-on items to the conference registration. Q: What is the registration cancellation policy?
A: To cancel a registration, a written request must be received by the USBC via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, no later than 8:00 p.m. ET on Monday, July 16, 2018. Cancellations received on or before July 16, 2018, will be refunded, less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be granted for cancellations received after July 16, 2018. The USBC regrets that refunds will not be granted for "no-shows."
Note for State/Territorial Coalition Sponsored Attendees: In the event of cancellation, the attendee will be responsible for reimbursing the full cost of any travel reservations paid for by the USBC (and the attendee will bank, in their own name, the value of that ticket with the airline for their own future travel. Unfortunately, tickets cannot be transferred to another person, per airline policy).
