2022 NBCC Awards

Each conference year the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) offers a limited number of awards to support the participation of cultural, tribal, and emerging breastfeeding leaders at the National Breastfeeding Conference and Convening (NBCC).

These awards are one component of USBC efforts to recognize and promote individuals that dedicate their service to communities with breastfeeding rates below the U.S. national average, who have not participated in a past USBC conference, and for whom attendance might not be possible without the award.

The award application is now OPEN!  Review the details and apply below.

Application deadline is Sunday, April 3, at 11:59 p.m. PT

Award Categories

Emerging Leader Award

  • Preference is for individuals with five or fewer years of experience in the breastfeeding field.

Native Knowledge Award

The Native Knowledge Award is for individuals of American Indian/Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian heritage, who are actively involved in collaborative efforts to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding in Native communities.

Cultural Changemaker Award

The Cultural Changemaker Award is for individuals who are actively involved in collaborative efforts to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding in culturally distinct communities through service to a cultural coalition or community-based organization.

  • Past awardees include individuals serving African American, Latinx, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Appalachian communities. Cultural groups may self-identify through diverse factors, so any non-dominant cultural group may apply.
