The American Academy of Family Physicians has released an updated breastfeeding position paper. Bolstered by new evidence, the updated paper provides eight key recommendations on how family physicians can support breastfeeding success and help close the gap between current breastfeeding rates and Healthy People 2020 objectives. Map Your Journey Campaign, from HealthConnect One

HealthConnect One has launched the Map Your Journey social media campaign, inviting individuals to share the story of their journey to community-based peer-to-peer support during pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and early parenting. Follow the conversation and contribute at hashtag #MapYourJourney on Facebook and Twitter through December.

Convention on the Rights of the Child

November 20 marked the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Partner highlights included:

Second International Conference on Nutrition, from WHO

The World Health Organization and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations hosted the Second International Conference on Nutrition. As part of the event, over 170 countries adopted the Rome Declaration on Nutrition and a Framework for Action, setting out recommendations for policies and programs to address nutrition across multiple sectors. The Declaration specifically calls for actions to support breastfeeding and regulate the marketing of infant formula.

Workplace Accommodation Webinar, from Florida

Join the Florida Breastfeeding Coalition on Tuesday, January 20, from 12-1 p.m. EST for a webinar entitled "Employer Support of Moms in the Workplace." The webinar will focus on rejuvenating Florida's Business Case for Breastfeeding efforts and feature information on the new Supporting Nursing Moms at Work employer resource from the Office on Women's Health.
