Funding Award Information, from CDC
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Community Health, has posted a complete list of awardees and project descriptions for the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) awards. Three REACH award projects include breastfeeding support activities. In addition, the CDC has published charts showing state-by-state Fiscal Year 2014 Prevention and Public Health Fund investments by total funding levels and by per capita investments.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has published the Prevention Checklist, a comprehensive list of recommended preventive services for adults, women, children, and pregnant women.
IBCLC Certification Program Re-accredited, from IBLCE
The International Board of Lactation Consultation Examiners has announced that the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) of the Institute of Credentialing Excellence (ICE) recently re-accredited the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification program. The IBCLC program has been continuously accredited by NCCA since 1988. Read the press release.

Insurer Scorecard, from NBfC
The National Breastfeeding Center has released its second annual scorecard on health care insurance companies' coverage of breastfeeding support. Research was initially conducted in 2013 to see how the insurance industry was responding to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), and has been refreshed to assess how policies have changed in the year since. Premature Birth Report Card, from MoD
The March of Dimes has released the seventh annual Premature Birth Report Card, showing that the national preterm birth rate fell to 11.4% in 2013, meeting the federal Healthy People 2020 goal seven years early. Despite this progress, the U.S. still received a "C" grade because it fell short of the 9.6% target set by the March of Dimes. The Report Card compares each state's preterm birth rate and tracks state progress on principal risk reduction strategies. Read the press release.

The Center of Health Leadership and Practice, a Center of the Public Health Institute, is accepting team applications through November 25 for the National Leadership Academy for the Public's Health (NLAPH). NLAPH is an innovative approach to leadership development that brings together four-person multi-sector teams that want to advance their leadership skills and achieve health equity in their community. The program develops advanced leadership skills through a series of webinars, a national retreat, coaching support from national experts, and peer networking.
