Prevention Fund "Dear Colleague" Letter, from U.S. Senate
Senator Patty Murray and thirteen other Senators have sent a "dear colleague" letter to fellow Senators in support of the Prevention and Public Health Fund. Individuals are encouraged to thank their Senator(s), if they are signed on.
Community Health Improvement Navigator, from CDC
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has launched a Community Health Improvement Navigator website for people who lead or participate in CHI work within hospitals and health systems, public health agencies, and other community organizations. The website helps public health agencies, organizations, and individuals improve and invest in the health of their communities by offering expert-vetted tools and resources like a database for interventions that work and case examples that public health agencies can use to partner with hospitals.
Appropriations Action Alert, from NWA
The National WIC Association has asked for $6.684 billion to fund WIC in the Fiscal Year 2016 Agriculture Appropriations bill. This level of funding would assure that no eligible applicants are turned away; maintain current and anticipated WIC participation levels; assure adequate nutrition services and administration (NSA) funding; respond adequately to forecasts of food cost inflation; and provide funds for nutrition services to maintain clinic staffing and assure competitive salaries. MCH Program Planning Guide, from AMCHP
The Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs has created a new publication for MCH programs and their partners, entitled Health for Every Mother: A Maternal Health Resource and Planning Guide for States. The new resource is a comprehensive planning framework and menu of strategies, supported by implementation examples from more than 30 states and a wealth of national program and policy resources. The guide also includes assessment tools for use internally or with partners.
Health Equity and Social Justice, from APHA and Grantmakers in Health
American Public Health Association Executive Director Georges Benjamin has authored an article in the Grantmakers in Health Views from the Field series, entitled "Health Equity and Social Justice: A Health Improvement Tool." The article discusses the role of racism and discrimination on health, emphasizing the need for trust and the importance of not mistaking access for equity.
IBCLC Achieves Licensure in Rhode Island, from USLCA

Prevention Task Force Recommendations, from BPC
The Bipartisan Policy Center has released a report entitled A Prevention Prescription for Improving Health and Health Care in America, the result of a Prevention Task Force convened in 2014. The task force's first set of recommendations focuses on building the evidence base for prevention, while the second part of its framework focuses on near-term opportunities to embed prevention in broader health care delivery system reforms.
