What's Happening at the State Level?
Legislation supportive of the breastfeeding woman clearly establishes
the value of breastfeeding within a society and reveals how society views
this important health choice. The following information provided and
maintained by La Leche League International reviews breastfeeding policies
currently in place in state governments throughout the United States. As
of 1999, a total of 33 states had a policies relating to breastfeeding in
one or more categories: breastfeeding in the workplace; breastfeeding in
public places; jury duty postponement; promotion of programs related to
breastfeeding.
