Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition
The Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Center for Food Safety and
Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) is one of five product-oriented centers, in
addition to a nationwide field force, that carries out the mission of the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA). CFSAN is responsible for promoting and
protecting the public’s health by ensuring that the nation’s food
supply is safe, sanitary, wholesome, and honestly labeled, and that
cosmetic products are safe and properly labeled. It is also responsible
for managing safety concerns regarding food substances (such as breast
milk and milk banking, infant formulas, dietary supplements), food
allergens, and dietary components (such as fat and cholesterol). For more
information about CFSAN, visit http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/list.html
